Yoga Mythology

Yoga Mythology

Yoga Mythology invites you to explore the rich stories, symbolism, and timeless wisdom woven throughout the practice of yoga.
Journey into the stories of Shiva, Parvati, Ganesha, Hanuman, Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswati, Vishnu, Brahma, and other figures from the yoga tradition—and discover how their stories connect to the poses we practice, the mantras we chant, and the lessons we encounter both on and off the mat.
These are more than stories. They offer metaphors for the human experience—stories of courage and devotion, creation and transformation, obstacles and possibility, balance, love, loss, joy, and new beginnings.
You may discover why a familiar pose carries a particular name, how its mythology can change the way you experience the posture, or how an ancient story can offer a surprisingly relevant perspective on modern life.
And like yoga itself, these stories can be revisited again and again. As we change, what we hear—and what we take from them—may change too.
Join Loretta Jo, founder of Yoga-Mojo, as she shares some of her favorite stories from yoga mythology and explores the meaning, symbolism, and wisdom within them.
Listen. Explore. Be curious. And perhaps see your practice in a new way.
